Forgotten Child Fund Needs Your Help

Since the early 1960s, the Forgotten Child Fund assists needy families and their children at Christmas. The FCF Santa Train (a long parade of emergency vehicles) delivers the presents on Christmas Eve.

This year, fund organizers say its resources are spread thin due to a number of tragedies, including the Woodmore Elementary bus accident, fires in Gatlinburg and tornadoes. Please consider donating to this cause if you are able. Toys, gloves and hats for all ages are still needed. Find out more about how you can help make Christmas special for people in our community at the Forgotten Child Fund's website. Donations can be dropped off at Chattanooga Fire or Hamilton County EMS locations.

The Forgotten Child Fund is operated and supported by volunteers with many emergency response agencies, including the Chattanooga Fire Department, Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue, Chattanooga Police Department, Hamilton County Emergency Services, Hamilton County Sheriff's Department, Red Bank Fire Department, Signal Mountain Fire Department and several volunteer fire departments.

McCoy Farm Donor to Match Pledges

PictureMake a donation now to McCoy Farm & Gardens, and it will be matched by an anonymous donor.
The McCoy Farm & Gardens is excited to share some good news. Here is a statment from President Mickey Robbins:

"An anonymous donor has given McCoy Farm & Gardens $10,000 and also has pledged to match new gifts up to another $10,000. In other words, if we can raise $10,000, the donor will give another $10,000 toward restoration of this invaluable resource for our community.

"Dedicated volunteers have designed and constructed a walking trail around the perimeter of the property, restored Martha McCoy’s favorite Horseshoe Garden, renovated the screened Pavilion, modernized the kitchen, remodeled upstairs rooms in the house, and cleared acreage along Anderson Pike to handle excess parking during major events. With these improvements, McCoy Farm & Gardens now serves as a community park as well as a venue for weddings and receptions, family celebrations, bird and nature walks, gardening classes, Boy and Girl Scout projects, school classes on history and nature, church picnics and retreats, fund-raisers for nonprofits and schools, and club and group meetings.

"As we look to the future, we plan to build restrooms in the Carriage House, renovate the blacksmith shop, stabilize the barn, and continue to restore the property’s beautiful grounds. We are grateful for the unique opportunity the $10,000 match provides. Please consider a tax-deductible gift in one of the following
categories: U.S. Senator $2,000; TN Supreme Court Justice $1,000; Wagon Driver $500; Master Gardener $250; Spirit of the Mountains $100; W Road Traveler $50; or Moonshiner $25.

"Given the opportunity of the match, your gift is especially meaningful. I speak for the Board and all the volunteers when I say that we believe McCoy Farm & Gardens is a great community resource, and with your support, we will work to keep making it better."

The mission of McCoy Farm & Gardens is to restore, enhance and preserve the historic McCoy homeplace so that it may serve the community as an arboretum, natural area and venue for private events. Find out more here.
