The Walden’s Ridge Civic League (WRCL) has been granted the privilege of hosting the America250 - Semiquincentennial celebration for the mountaintop on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 4-8 p.m., on the Civic Center grounds, 2501 Fairmount Pike in Walden.

The event will be held in conjunction with the WRCL’s Birthday Bash - a celebration of the construction of the WR Civic Center Auditorium in 1921. This is the sixth year for the commemorative festivities honoring the 105-year-old building.

Officials and representatives from Walden, Signal Mountain, Chattanooga, Hamilton County, and the State of Tennessee will take part in the double-birthday party, which features music, food and drink, games, hayrides, jump houses, balloons - and free ice cream and cake.

America250 is a nonpartisan initiative working to engage every American in commemorating the 250th anniversary of our country. This is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond.

The Tennessee America250 Commission promotes an inclusive statewide celebration and educational commemoration of America’s 250th by interpreting and preserving Tennessee’s unique stories, objects, landmarks, and places across our diverse state that defined who we are as Tennesseans and Americans. The Walden’s Ridge Civic Center is one of these worthy places.

Chattanooga and Hamilton County governments are uniting for the America 250 Commemoration with the creation of a local America250 committee. More than 50 representatives of historical societies, community-based service, preservation and faith groups, and business/educational institutions are working together to commemorate and celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
