Dogs at McCoy Must Be LeashedWarmer days are around the corner and we’re looking forward to more visitors, both human and canine, at McCoy Farm & Gardens. We take pride in providing a space where dogs may enjoy the outdoors with their owners. There are several important reasons why keeping your pets on a leash is required.
McCoy is a shared space for everyone to enjoy, including families, joggers, and people with animals. Having your dogs on leash and under your control ensures that they do not approach people or other dogs that may feel uncomfortable or frightened by them. Even the friendliest dogs may become startled or overwhelmed by unfamiliar people or dogs. Some dogs feel they or their owners are threatened by other dogs and may demonstrate aggressive behavior in response. Keeping your dogs on leash also helps protect our landscaping and wildlife. When the gardens and natural habitat are left undisturbed, their beauty is preserved for everyone. |
The Puppy Patch is available for owners who want their dogs to enjoy off-leash time on the property.
By leashing dogs, we create a safer, more enjoyable experience for all of McCoy’s visitors, allowing both humans and dogs to share the outdoors responsibly.

School News & Information
Signal Mountain was founded 100 years ago, and the town is ready for its festive Centennial Anniversary! Now is a great time to reflect on what our beloved town was like in 1919.
What was it like living in coal mining communities on Signal Mountain? There was no running water or electricity in the mining communities, even by the 1920s. Primary schools, located near the mines, provided only basic education for the very youngest children. Far too soon, the young boys went to work in the mines along with their fathers, uncles and brothers. By the age of 40 or 50, most men had developed black lung disease and were too sick to continue working.
