The ninth annual Butterfly Brunch will be held Saturday, April 27, 2019, at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church. While many may associate a “brunch” as a gathering for a meal that is in between breakfast and lunch, the Butterfly Brunch is so much more. A fundraiser for St. Timothy’s Episcopal Pre-School (S.T.E.P.S.), the Butterfly Brunch is a three-hour affair that takes months of planning and which attendees eagerly anticipate each year.

As in years past, the Butterfly Brunch brings together women from the Signal Mountain community and beyond. The first act of the brunch includes a silent auction and raffle, with items donated from local businesses and S.T.E.P.S. supporters. Including items such as spa visits and hotel stays, the auction will also feature specialty items such as custom-made raw denim jeans donated by Blue Delta Jeans Co. and a Veer Cruiser stroller wagon donated by Mountain Top Toys. The second act of the brunch is its namesake - a delicious brunch – and, of course, friends and fellowship. The proceeds from the Butterfly Brunch are invested in the preschool, with past projects including the addition of a new Pre-K classroom, funding for an art teacher at the school, and scholarships to attend S.T.E.P.S.

The co-chairs for this year’s Butterfly Brunch are Susan Laseter and Terri Sanders. The food for this year’s Butterfly Brunch will be provided by Charisse Varnell (a previous S.T.E.P.S. parent), with dessert provided by Josie Holmun, a current S.T.E.P.S. parent, and Pruett’s Market. The brunch will feature one-of-a-kind tables hosted and decorated by women with past and previous ties to S.T.EP.S. As with years past, Mountain Top Toys will be provide décor for the staff table. The presenting sponsor of this year’s brunch is Pratt Home Builders. Other sponsors include Krystal, The Hale Group, the Scoggins family, Mountain Top Toys, Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, Laseter Landscapes, Tennessee Interventional and Imaging Associates, Signal Mountain Athletic Club, and Crye-Leike of Signal Mountain.

This year, the second annual Brew and View will take place Friday, April 26, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Free of charge, this event lets those who are interested preview and bid on items included in the raffle and silent auction before the Butterfly Brunch takes place. For information about ticket availability for the Butterfly Brunch, or for information about the Brew and View, call the pre-school at (423) 886-3713.
