Farmers® Signal Mountain Insurance Agency has been a member of the Signal Mountain community for more than 30 years. Located on Taft Highway next to Signal Mountain Pharmacy, the agency plans to celebrate the major milestone with a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 12.
“It’s great to be a part of an historic milestone and contribute to the community building,” said owner Steven Eddinger.
Steven’s been associated with Farmer’s Insurance for more than nine years, but the Signal Mountain newcomer recently bought the agency. “I’ve owned property on the mountain for four years and have lived in the Boston Branch neighborhood for a year and a half,” he said, adding that he’s open to moving closer to town.
“I always wanted to build on Signal with some type of business, and it just happened to be an opportunity,” he said. He bought the agency from Andera Goldberg; its original owner was Mel Tryon. “He’s a great mentor and friend,” Steven said of Mel. “He took me under his wing. We are part of the Lions Club together. Mel is a very generous person - helpful and dedicated to Signal Mountain.”
Steven’s bio on the Farmers Insurance website says: “Steven enjoys golf and Chattanooga Lookout games, as well as all the different restaurants Chattanooga has to offer. He is excited about being part of a community that has a hometown feel.”
His community is clearly important to him. “I like the fact it is community oriented, and local businesses support local businesses, as well as residents. I live on the mountain and want to build relationships [similar to ones formed] years back where everybody watched out for one another,” he said.
Besides the importance of building relationships, his favorite part of working on Signal Mountain is “no traffic issues!”
Looking ahead to 2020 and beyond, Steven says the agency’s goals are to continually serve the residents of Signal Mountain. “It’s a great honor, and I’m humbled to be a member of one of the best communities in Tennessee.”
Famers Signal Mountain Insurance Agency’s 30th anniversary rededication ribbon cutting ceremony will take place June 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
