Lindsey Frost grew up on Signal Mountain with an appreciation for beautiful interiors, thanks to her parents’ woodworking business. Exposed to design and creativity at a young age, the athletic volleyball player majored in interior design at UTC, and she spent a decade doing contract residential work, designing beautiful, functional spaces for a decade through her company, Frost Designs.
Her dream of opening a storefront retail shop came true at the end of the year, and Twenty-Two opened on Chestnut Street. Brimming with a wide range of furniture, home décor and accessories, the shop also boasts jewelry, art and clothing. The store has a Palm Beach meets Mid Century modern vibe, and is full of color and eclectic pieces.
Lindsey’s husband, Jonathan, owner of Croft and Frost accounting, owns the building, which is called The Easy. Named after Jonathan’s maternal grandfather, Elisa “Easy” N. Sadler, the building brings its own interesting history to the shop. Easy came by his nickname for being easygoing, but he was a hardworking rock for his family after overcoming hardship in his life. He owned and operated the Rivermont Gulf Service Center for nearly four decades. Clearly the space for the shop is meaningful.
You might think the name of the shop, Twenty- Two, figures somehow in the address of the shop, which is located at 1413 Chestnut Street. Perhaps the phone number would give a clue, but it’s (423) 654-8111. She opened the shop in 2022, so that might make sense. However, the genesis of the name came from Lindsey’s high school volleyball number at Red Bank High School, a number also belonging to her younger sister’s. The No. 22 was retired at the school after Lindsey’s youngest sister ended the trio’s volleyball career with a state championship title.
But the name of the shop goes deeper than that. An angel number is a series of repeating digits, which supposedly carries a certain energy or meaning in the universe. You may have your own angel numbers; look for a series of repeating numbers in different places, like on license plates, receipts clocks or volleyball jerseys. Lindsey’s angel number is clearly 22. When she realized the significance of her particular angel number, the name of her business was crystal clear. Supposedly, if you are in the middle of chaos and disorder and repeatedly see the number 22, it is a sign that the Lord will bring harmony to your life and it will be restored. Lindsey’s experiences with her angel number throughout her life reinforces her belief to stay positive and know all things will be worked out for good.
Lindsey and her husband, Jonathan, enjoy spending time at the lake with their three daughters, Laney, 16, Sally, 14, and Molly, 10, who attend Baylor, SMMHS and Nolan Elementary respectively. The whole family enjoys volleyball, both playing it and watching it.
