
The Signal Mountain Community Guild is a civic, welfare and social organization with a purpose of enriching the community and preserving human and natural resources in cooperation with other civic, cultural, educational and social organization.
Each year the SMCG awards a scholarship to a student in the 37377 zip code. This year, the presentation took place at the end of the Guild’s summer picnic at the home of Rose Opengart. Lucy Kathryn Combs, a graduate of Notre Dame High School, was chosen for her academic performance and commitment to serving others. She will receive a $1,000 scholarship for 2019-2020.
Established in 1928 with 13 members, the SMCG also sponsors a book club, craft nights, a holiday cookie swap and the famed Dogwood Luncheon during which a Signal Mountain Woman of the Year is named.
