In advance of the Mountain Arts Community Center’s (MACC) Birthday Bash, there will be a potluck supper for Signal Mountain Grammar School alumni on Friday, June 3, at the MACC. Old friends will get together, reconnect and share school day stories over a potluck meal as they preview the MACC’s recent renovations. The Alumni Potluck is a pre-event to 90th Birthday Celebration.
The Birthday Bash, a fundraiser for the MACC, will commemorate the 90th year of Signal Mountain Grammar School on Saturday, August 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the MACC. The school was constructed in 1926 using rock harvested from the south face of the mountain during the construction of Signal Mountain Road. It was the first building for public use in the town, and is one of the oldest remaining school buildings in Hamilton County that is still in public use.
Lolly Ballard Durant, Christine Dall Anzalone, Rita Smith Irvin and Mary Ann Leun are collecting alumni names. Please let them know if you attended Signal Mountain Grammar School between 1926-1999.
Check the MACC website, www.signalmountainmacc.org, for upcoming event information or call (423) 886-5755.
