For over six decades, the Signal Mountain Community Guild has published a telephone directory of all neighbors living within the 37377 zip code. Neighbor names are sorted alphabetically as well as by street address. This unique feature allowing residents to search names and phone numbers by street address is a handy tool for getting in touch with neighbors, both new and old. The directory is well-loved by the community, and it’s time for another edition to be printed.
The SMCG, a civic and social organization that was formed in 1928, is the oldest community group on Signal Mountain. This volunteer project is the primary fundraiser of the Guild, along with the Dogwood Luncheon. All funds collected go directly to the charities the Guild supports. Some of the local entities the Guild has supported include the Mountain Arts Community Center, Bachman Community Center, Lone Oak Community Center, Walden’s Ridge Emergency Service and Signal Mountain Social Services. The Guild also awards a local student with a $1,000 college scholarship annually.
The SMCG Directory Committee is seeking to publish a new paper copy by January 2024. In addition, the Guild hopes to introduce digital access to the directory via an application that is under development. While the Guild will obtain a listing of landlines from AT&T, Comcast and EPB, the Guild will rely heavily on residents to self-report mobile numbers and other preferred information to be published. The submission form requests your first and last name, street address, phone numbers and email. However, the form allows each respondent to select which information they want published, and there is no charge to submit resident information. The SMCG will be selling advertisement space within the directory to vendors. Email [email protected] for pricing and advertisement submission.
The deadline to submit resident or business information or to advertise is June 1, 2023. Directories will be available for purchase at Pruett’s, Signal Mountain Pharmacy and other participating stores beginning in January 2024.
